Responding to an Invisible Covid-19 Crisis
Dear friends,
There has been an invisible crisis during the lockdown. Our nation’s most vulnerable children have not been seen by teachers, doctors or other professionals and so despite a large spike in incidents of domestic violence, very few children have come into care. We are expecting a surge in children coming into care soon.
There are currently 125,000 children waiting in foster care for adoption in the U.S. As you are probably aware, children that age out of foster care make up a large percentage of the homeless population, the prison population and those that are sexually exploited in the U.S. Due to COVID–19 adoption has slowed down.
The church has a vital role to play in responding to this crisis and we would like to invite you to be part of a conversation about the best way that we as churches and leaders across the nation can play our part.
